Perplexity AI had been in services in December 2023. It is a conversational type search tool. It gives users summarised / concise responses to prompts / questions. Google on the other hand, acts more like a type of encyclopaedia with multiple possible responses to the prompt / question. Google gives you endless links to pages that you must read up on. Thus, if you want a quick direct, not widely researched response, Perplexity AI is, to a large extent, the go to solution.
Where Perplexity has the edge over Google is it is conversational style. It is almost like having a conversation with the AI search tool. This means that you can ask it follow-up questions / prompts on its previous answers / responses.
If you want crisp and direct answers to questions/ have an engagement with the search tool, Perplexity is your better bat.
