This is the second article by The Atriam on AI (artificial intelligence). The AI landscape is evolving rapidly. This week we drill down a little more into their products and differentiating features.
Chat GPT previously operated on version ChatGPT-3.5 (and to some extent, still does) whereas ChatGPT+ ran on ChatGPT-4. Last week, 13 May, OpenAI made huge announcements with regards to ChatGPT. More about this in the next article.
Gemini Pro on the otherhand, operates on Gemini pro 1.0. On 17 May 2024, google announced the release of Gemini Pro 1.5). Gemini Advance runs on Gemini Advance 2.0.
Compared to their free counterparts, both ChatGPT+ and Gemini Advance can perform more complex and advance functions. Make no mistake, ChatGPT and Gemini, though not in the same league at ChatGPT+ and Gemini Advance, are still very, very powerful beast in their own right.
OpenAI is collaborating with Microsoft, even though Microsoft have its own AI product called CoPilot (previously called Bing Chat). If you want to access the premium features of ChatGPT-4 (as oppose to the free version of ChaptGPT 3.5), you had to sign up for ChatGPT+ (since 13 May 2024, there had been new developments in this space ; more about it in the next article). Curiously, the free version of CoPilot is operating on ChatGPT-4. Thus, previously one could have obtain the premium features of ChatGPT-4 for free if you use the free version of Microsoft’s CoPilot.If you run out of tokens on ChatGPT, you can switch over to CoPilot.
Gemini can process significantly larger (not necessarily better) data as oppose to ChatGPT. Aside from access to their premium products, all of ChatGPT+, Gemini Advance and CoPilot+ have supplementary benefits.
Indications are that each of these three AI tech giants are going to distinguish themselves from each other by placing greater emphasis on a particular aspect. At this stage, ChatGPT seems to emphasise ease of use, user-interface, more human like interaction. and convenience. Currently, Gemini appears to be going big on current data and power to process large volumes of data. Microsoft looks as if it going to focus on CoPilot’s ability to integrate with Microsoft products etc. The AI landscape is changing rapidly and these tech giants may change from their current trajectory.
ChatGPT+ has a free trial period of 14 days whereas Gemini Advance has a free trial period of 2 months.
